Singer Jennifer Lopez has filed papers against the owner of jenniferlopez.org and jenniferlopez.net, accusing him of cybersquatting, writes Kieren McCarthy on his blog.
McCarthy writes the sites are used “to display news, pictures and videos of and about the singer and includes a disclaimer at the bottom stating that the sites are fan sites and are not endorsed by Lopez. However, both sites also include prominent ads and links through to affiliate sites.”
A WIPO dispute was filed last week by Lopez’s charitable foundation. McCarthy has requested an interview with the registrant, so far to no avail, and suggests that his chances of keeping the domain names don’t look good following other decisions where WIPO has found in favour of celebrities.
