Sunrise period for Cameroon Domains starts 15th October

YAOUNDE, Cameroon, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ — NETCOM.cm Sarl, the official registry in charge of the Country Code Top Level Domains of The Republic of Cameroon, proclaimed today that it will launch second-level .cm domain name registrations on October 15, 2008.
Based in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, NETCOM.cm Sarl was founded in early 2008 as a proud partner of ANTIC — The Information Technology Regulator for Cameroon. The launch campaign will commence with a short sunrise period to give holders of national trademarks premium opportunities to protect their brands online. Then following is the general registration, starting November 15, allowing the general public to register sought-after .CM domain names.
As a typo of .CN — the current No. 1 Country Code Top Level Domain, .CM is seen to have the potential popularity and impact on Internet-based Global Brand Protection. Worldwide registrars are welcomed by NETCOM to come on board and contribute to increasing the number of .cm domains. Registration applications must be made through an Accredited Registrar.
