Morning folks!!
Hard to believe that TRAFFIC is just a week away. We have been working hard behind the scenes to do whatever we can to expose the power of domains to the universe. T.R.A.F.F.I.C. NEW YORK will be covered by the Wall Street Journal among other media and publications. In a world of declining asset values and declining real estate, domains continue to prove to be a solid investment and that is a story that needs to be told.
David Kesmodel, author of the “Domain Game” will be on hand for a special book signing. His book has received rave reviews from those who are both inside the industry and out. This is your opportunity to meet the author who is helping to define and foretell history concerning the domain industry. The book is a “Must Read”.
Plus, our Keynote Speaker, is a dynamo who will have a lot of insight on the comparison between virtual and cyber real estate. I first had contact with her about 10 years ago. While Donald Trump was saying at that point in history that he did not believe that real estate could be sold online, Barbara Corcoran was actually out there proving him wrong. During some of the worst real estate days in Manhattan in 2000, Barbara figured out a way to clean up by thinking outside the box. This was long before she was a regular contributor to the Today Show which is the most watched morning show in the universe. She is going to discuss the fascinating links between our two industries.
We are also going to hear from an end user and his path to domain names and the difference between “Branding” for tens of millions vs. branding a category killing domain for a fraction of that. Brad Geisen will discuss his purchase of Foreclosure.com and how that led him to purchasing Property.com which is one of the most valuable domain deals on record. Many details of that deal will be discussed and disclosed.
All this before I even mention that we are going to do another ground breaking first. Multiple LIVE domain auctions held by Moniker.com, Aftermarket.com, and RickLatona.com. Each of these companies are working hard to promote their auctions. It will not be easy to match Moniker’s record breaking $12 million auction on our inaugural visit to New York just last year. The dynamics we have created are sure to bust things wide open. It is going to be great for the industry and a lot of fun besides. All 3 companies are promoting the industry and the auctions at a level that can only help all of us. The results we will all see together. One thing is for sure, the excitement level will be off the charts.
Add to that several cocktail parties, 2 dinners, 2 lunches, 3 breakfasts and networking parties too numerous to count. I hope you like lobster and Japanese Wagu beef and a host of other delicacies including shrimp the size of your fist. We are going all out on the buffets and meals unlike anything you have ever seen. Besides the business we will all do, this will be a culinary experience that you won’t forget and I guarantee will never be repeated.
There is a certain magic that happens when you break bread with somebody. It may be the oldest tradition known to man for those that would like to put aside differences and move forward. A certain “Civility” is the bi-product and that is a chemistry TRAFFIC is famous for and that transforms the low level of chatter that permeates itself on the Internet. An invitation to TRAFFIC means you want to pull yourself up out of that orbit and leave the ordinary behind and focus on the extraordinary. Few if any who have attended TRAFFIC ever go back to the ordinary. They understand that people have wives and families and deserve better than to stick their noses in the business of others and say things that they would never say if they were standing in front of you. When you break bread, you find out you have more in common than what separates you. So you build on the common and agree to either appreciate or disagree on the few things that set us apart. In my view of the world, that is the minimum requirement to join the serious professionals of our industry. That’s the only thing you actually have to agree with me on. That’s your ticket to higher success and life changing transformation. Pretty low threshold from where I sit.
TRAFFIC remains the leader in all aspects of domaining conferences and shows. T.R.A.F.F.I.C. breaks through the status quo at every show and brings new and fresh ideas to the table. The evidence is clear and the story we are all writing will be adding a New York chapter that will be another game changer. A show people will talk about for years to come. A show in the middle of an economic downturn the likes of which we have not seen for many decades. While other segments of business are in decline and even in collapse, the domain industry is flourishing even with our current challenges.
The official dates of the 2 shows in 2009 will be announced in New York. April will find T.R.A.F.F.I.C. WEST in Silicon Valley and T.R.A.F.F.I.C. EAST will be in New York next October. Plus, of course, the first TRAFFIC outside of the USA eill change the dynamics of the industry once again at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. DOWN UNDER in November. See the FABULOUS.COM message that will follow later today.
